When it comes to sport, Bruntcliffe School pupils are in a league of their own.
The school’s rugby and football teams have been celebrating fantastic results which has seen the Year 11 rugby team being crowned Leeds Rugby League Champions and the U12 football team winning five big titles.
After the disappointment of narrowly losing the 2013 RFL Champion Schools national rugby league final, the Year 11 boys made a roaring comeback in this year’s Leeds and Hunslet Cup.
After beating David Young Community Academy 16-4 in a hard-fought quarter final, the boys romped to victory 46-4 against Corpus Christie in the semi-final before a 50-10 win against Priestthorpe in front of hundreds of spectators.
As for Bruntcliffe’s U12s football team, they may not have played together long, but have certainly made some waves representing their school this year.
The cherry on the cake was a performance at John Charles Stadium, where the team ran out winners against Boston Spa School after stepping up their performance on a huge pitch.
All the trophies are in pride of place in the school.
