A planning application to build 370 houses on Church Fields in East Ardsley has been strongly opposed in a letter from residents.
Morley Against Reckless Construction (MARC) kicked off its campaign against the development by producing the letter on behalf of residents.
The application by Barratts and David Wilson Homes to develop a greenfield site from is opposed by many local people.
Coun Wyn Kidger, Church Fields Campaign Co-ordinator, said: “We do not need to rip up this important greenfield site when other brownfield sites need developing.
“I hope people will back our campaign and we can lodge a large number of objections against this planning application.”
MARC is opposing the application as its members believe that local schools, roads and health centres cannot cope with the impact of any further development.
Its letter claimed that planning permission had been granted already for more than 20,000 houses on mainly brownfield sites across Leeds – and most were yet to be built.
