Funding has been secured to provide the police with more mountain bikes and motorbikes.

Local councillors have given local Neighbourhood Police Teams, including Morley and £2,079 to fund three mountain bikes for use by Police and Community Support Officers. They have also contributed £2,240 towards the cost of leasing and running two off road motorbikes in a joint project with the Inner South Area Committee who provided £4,480.

The three heavy duty mountain bikes are essential to the Police and the public have reported a noticed improvement in the service they receive due to their use.

The off road bikes have helped to reduce the impact of the anti-social use of motorbikes and quad bikes within the community which were the cause of approximately two thirds of calls the Police received in the Outer South Area last year.
