X-Factor contestants, comedians and reality TV stars are heading to Elland Road for a charity football match.
X-Factor winner James Arthur and comedian Jon Richardson will be taking to the field at Leeds United’s Elland Road ground for the celebrity six-a-side tournament on Thursday May 29.
Other stars due to play in the Soccer Six event include former X Factor contestants Sam Callahan, Nicholas McDonald and Rough Copy.
Reality TV favourites Mark Wright and Ricky Rayment are also set to show off their footballing skills.
Soccer Six’s head of sales and PR, Steve Tabbron, said: “We’re hoping for a crowd of three or four thousand.
“It should be a great occasion. The standard of the players is obviously going to vary so we’ll be mixing up the teams to make sure everyone has a fair chance.”
Doors will open on the big day at 4pm, with the football itself kicking off an hour later and everyone is invited to cheer them on.
Elland Road’s pitch will be split into sections so that as many as four games can take place at any one time during the FA Cup-style competition.
The sporting action is scheduled to end at about 8pm, with VIP ticket holders then being treated to music performances from some of the chart stars booked for the event.
Soccer Six has been running its celebrity tournaments since 1994, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton, Newcastle United and West Ham United among the previous host clubs.
Steve said: “We have been really keen to come to Yorkshire.
“The county’s a massive sporting community, we know that much from the number of medals it won at the 2012 Olympics!”
Funds raised by the tournament will go to the Leeds United Foundation, the charitable arm of its parent football club.
