An unpopular planning application to expand a travellers site in Gildersome is expected to get the go-ahead tomorrow (Thursday).
Leeds City Council wants to an 12 more pitches to its Cottingley Springs Travellers Site, despite opposition from many local people.
Councillors and local residents, including those living on the site, have said that it is large enough already.
But the planning officer asked to review the plans has recommended that the application should be approved.
Councillor Robert Finnigan, who has led the campaign against the expansion, said: “It is clear, and the planning report confirms this, that the proposal does not comply with national and local planning rules.”
He said the report also confirmed that the land was contaminated and liable to flooding to such a degree that a flood evacuation plan was needed.
