Driver hit by brick dropped from M621 bridge
A DRIVER was injured after he was hit by a brick that smashed through his windscreen after being dropped from a bridge over the M62.
The 25-year-old was driving a Peugeot 307 car westbound underneath the footbridge at Junction 4 when the incident happened at about 11.45pm on Saturday.
He was hit in the chest but managed to keep control of his vehicle, bringing it to a stop safely on the hard shoulder where he was attended to by police and paramedics. He received only minor injuries and did not attend hospital.
The incident could clearly have had far more serious consequences to the driver and other road users.
Officers have carried out house-to-house enquiries in the area and are checking CCTV to try to identify those involved.
Anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously on the footbridge at the time or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to call officers at Holbeck Police Station via 101, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
