BRIDGING GAP A petition for a railway station to be built at Fall Lane has gained support.

A campaign to get a railway station in the East Ardsley area is building momentum.

A letter to Secretary of State for Transport Patrick McLoughlin MP and Morley MP Ed Balls accompanies a petition on the issue, which has been signed by more than 100 local residents.

People from East Ardsley, Thorpe and the surrounding areas want to be provided with a railway station with secure car parking facilities at the site of Fall Lane Railway Bridge.

A group of determined campaigners launched an online petition last week, through the Ardsley and Rhubarb Triangle Group Facebook page.

The petition reads as follows: “This request is particularly relevant when examining the public transport facilities available to the general population in the rest of the Leeds area.

“These other Leeds residents have fast and frequent rail services to the hubs of activity throughout their areas, whereas the constituents in the East Ardsley and Thorpe area do not enjoy any such facility whatsoever.

“We understand the surrounding land is still owned by Railtrack.”
