An annual memorial service held to remember loved ones who have passed away was again a great success.

The Light of Love service at Morley Central Methodist Church was both emotional and moving with friends and families taking part in the all-faiths service sponsored by Morley funeral directors, Crabtree and Son.

Rev Barbara Fairburn, who arranged the service in conjunction with Peter Crabtree and members of the church, said: “We are very pleased with the response we have had this year, it has been a superb and worthwhile event”

There were readings, prayers, carols and a chance for those taking part to hang a star, bearing the name of a loved one they had lost, on the Christmas tree at the front.

Peter Crabtree said: “The memorial service responds to a real need for the people of Morley who have recently lost loved ones and it has been a pleasure for me to take part again this year.

“The service had a lovely family feel, with a great opportunity for the children to take part. The feedback from people we spoke to after the service was very positive and I felt that everyone got a lot of comfort from being there”

A special thank you must go out to all those who attended the service and helped raise a total of over £200 for the Teenage Cancer Trust and to Crabtree and Son Funeral Directors for their help in organising and sponsoring the event.
