Westerton Primary School pupils spent time developing their financial skills thanks to an innovative financial capability programme.
Barclays Bank volunteers popped into school to share their professional knowledge with pupils and staff on topics such as budgeting, saving and spending and where to go for help and advice.
The volunteers were able to share their own top money making tips during the interactive session, such as how to spend and save money, how to save on shopping bills and other money making skills.
Barclays Money Skills is a national money management programme delivered by the bank in partnership with leading UK charities such as Action for Children and the National Youth Agency.
Westerton maths leader Milly Pratt said: “It’s bee a very exciting week at Westerton Primary School.
“All children have been learning valuable money skills during their numeracy and PSHE lessons throughout the week. “Children in Year 3 and Year 5 have had visitors in from Barclays Bank to teach them about how money is spent in the home and the value of different food ranges at the supermarket. “In this difficult economic climate it is more critical now than ever that children have the opportunity to build their financial knowledge and skills to help prepare for a secure future.
“Having volunteers from Barclays deliver the workshop gives the children a fantastic opportunity to engage with professionals who know about finance and money management.”
