THE former Black Prince bus depot could be redeveloped and turned into an estate of three and four bedroom homes.

Jones Homes (Northern) Ltd has applied for permission to build 42 houses on the site between Fountain Street and Chartist Way.

The plans were due to be considered by Morley Town Council’s planning committee on Tuesday night.

The developers have also sought permission to demolish the derelict Fountain Street Mill which, they said, is in a poor condition.

The application replaces one granted in 2006 to build 29 homes and 22 apartments on the site.

Work had started in 2009 but was soon halted as the project became “financially unviable” due to the economic down turn.

If Jones Homes are granted planning permission they will build a cul de sac of two and three storey homes with garages and a main entrance onto Fountain Street.
