Fresh fight for Morley Fire Station

ROUND TWO Campaigners who fought to keep Morley Fire Station open are worried about new plans to man the station during the day only.

Campaigners have issued a rallying cry as they prepare to fight for local fire services once more.

People power helped to save Morley Fire Station from closure last year, but plans to change staffing mean it will not be manned overnight in future.

Instead a team of firefighters living close to the station would be on call.

Fire service bosses say the move is a cost effective alternative to closing the station altogether.

But campaigners fear that the community will be put at risk if firefighters are only on call when an emergency arises.
