Friends of Middleton Park gear up for craft show

THE Friends of Middleton Park are gearing up for this year’s craft, flower and produce show on Sunday, September 9 - and it’s not too late to think about showcasing your own homegrown veg, or speciality homemade jam.

Categories this year include home grown fruit and vegetables, flowers, crafts, art, photography and home baking, with trophies and certificates awarded for the best.

Organisers are keen to make it a great show despite the difficult growing weather this summer, and everyone is invited to bring their entries to the craft and produce tent by 11am on the day.

The show is open to the public from 1.30pm-4pm with entertainment and activities for all, including pony rides, a miniature railway, hen racing, and a steel band. A variety of food and refreshments will also be available.

Frances Jones, from the Friends of Middleton Park, said: “This year’s show is going to be the biggest and best yet, with our friends from South Leeds Aero Modellers demonstrating their planes for the first time, plus performances from DAZL, Whinthorpe Whirlers, and Zumba for All. “Everyone is welcome to come and join the fun!”

For further information about the show and to download an entry form go to www.fomp.co.uk.

The event is funded this year by the councillors from the Inner South Area Committee and is being supported by a number of local organisations including Groundwork Leeds and the Belle Isle Tenant Management Organisation.
