Over three-and-a-half tonnes of food has been donated to the new Leeds South Food Bank thanks to the generosity of shoppers at Asda.
A collection day was held at the Morley store earlier this month for the Foodbank, which hopes to help local people who are finding it difficult to feed their families.
Project manager, Linda Jackson, said: “We were amazed by the response from the people of Morley and the surrounding area. The generosity shown was amazing, especially as many people will be feeling the pinch in their budgets after Christmas.”
The donated food will be used to provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the South Leeds area. A drop in session for anyone wanting to volunteer will be held this Friday, January 17, from 4.30pm-6.30pm in St Peter’s Hall, Rooms Lane,
