Morley shoppers have raised over £1,000 for charity by swapping their toys.
The generous bags of donations raised £1,450 for the shop in Windsor Court. Barnardo’s director of retail and trading Gerard Cousins said: “This is the second year of the partnership and we are delighted that the Argos Toy Exchange has again proved such a success, particularly in such a challenging economic climate. “Donations are absolutely essential to keep our stores trading. “All profits from selling these toys are ploughed directly into Barnardo’s work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children, so a huge thank you to everyone who has taken part.” People who donated toys were rewarded with a voucher offering £5 off a £35 spend on toys at Argos. Across the UK, where the scheme ran in 540 Barnardo’s shops as well as the retail giant, the scheme raised £560,000, a total of 56,031 bags of toys at an estimated £10 average price for each bag of toys donated. Barnardo’s works with more than 200,000 children, young people and their families each year. Barnardo’s runs more than 900 services across the UK.
