A woman who has given over many a Christmas to putting some joy into the lives of needy people in the community has been recognised by the Queen in the New Year’s Honours List.
Pam Clarkson, of Lofthouse, has been awarded the British Empire Medal in recognition of her work with vulnerable people.
Great-grandmother Pam Clarkson, 74, has cooked free Christmas meals for hundreds of vulnerable and elderly people at Blackburn Hall in Rothwell for the past 14 years.
She has been given her award for services to the community in Morley, Rothwell and Castleford.
She has recently been selected as one of the faces of Sainsbury’s ‘Make Your Roast Go Further’ campaign and has also raised more than £25,000 for Wakefield Hospice.
