George Osborne has suggested a brand new high-speed rail link, dubbed “HS3”, could pass through Morley.

In a speech this week, the Chancellor said upgrading lines between Manchester and Leeds to high speed rail would help the north “take on the world”.

This is likely to involve upgrading the transpennine route, which currently has a stop at Morley, although it is not yet known whether plans would have high speed trains stop at the station.

West Yorkshire combined Authority chair, coun Peter Box, said: “Developing an east-west HS3 route across the north would drive economic growth.
