The annual Mayoress at Home afternoon was held on Saturday with hundreds of guests visiting the town hall’s civic rooms.

Morley Mayoress Lin Dalton was host to guests, friends and visitors, who were all able to enjoy delicious refreshments prepared by the Mayoress and a team of councillors and volunteers.

The Civic Rooms were open all afternoon, including the Mayor’s Parlour, Council Chamber, committee rooms and the small and large Banqueting Halls.

People from a wide range of backgrounds were able to walk around and admire civic regalia, photographs, portraits, Victorian furniture and woodwork.

Live background music was provided throughout the event by a pianist playing classical music on the grand piano.

Mayoress Lin Dalton said the event was one of the highlights of her civic year.

It enabled her and the Mayor, Coun Andy Dalton, to express the thanks of the town council to many people involved in voluntary and other work throughout the Morley area.

She said that it was also a great networking occasion. People were able to meet and talk at length with a wide range of volunteers, community leaders and civic officials.

The Mayoress also welcomed the Mayors of Leeds, Otley, Wetherby, South Elmsall, Normanton, South Kirkby and Moorthorpe as special visitors to the venue.

She said: “This was a splendid occasion and an enormous success.”

She said the event once again brought the town together in a relaxed and informal manner and was an opportunity to say thank you.

“It has been a great privilege to welcome so many who do such sterling work in their neighbourhoods and work for the wellbeing of the town.”
