Improvement plan for popular Morley park
HEMBRIGG Park is to be the subject of an improvement plan.
The annoucement comes after a recent visit by Morley councillors and Leeds City Council Parks department staff.
The visit followed concerns from local park users that the ground, off High Street, was in need of some upgrading.
Coun Shirley Varley, who arranged the visit, said: “This is a much loved community asset but it has not received the attention it needs recently.
Some repairs, such as at the changing rooms and to replace the goal post stolen on the youth football pitch, are work that has been agreed.”
Additional staff have been recruited to work across Morley’s parks which will mean staff regularly located at Hembrigg, Churwell and Lewisham parks over the next few weeks.
Coun Varley added: “We have found the additional money we need to support this improvement plan at Hembrigg and the additional commitment of regular visits by park staff is welcomed.
“I will be visiting all our other parks across the Ward to make sure a similar programme is adopted there.”
