A tireless volunteer has celebrated his 100th birthday.
Joe Hannam, who grew up in Morley, had a party with his friends and family on Thursday.
For many years he was a volunteer at Kirkwood Hospice and a committed supporter of the St John Ambulance.
His work in the textile industry took him as far as India and he lived for several years in Ireland.
He later moved with his family to Savile Town in Dewsbury, then to Mirfield, where he now lives in Finching Grove and worships as the oldest member of Trinity Methodist Church.
Mr Hannam said: “My long life is just down to plain healthy living – I’ve not done anything special.
“I’ve never had a drink in my life and I’ve not smoked since I left school!”
His birthday party, where Mr Hannam was joined by his children Peter and Mollie, was held at St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Mirfield.
