A jogger grabbed a woman’s gold necklace in an attempted robbery in Churwell.
The 48-year-old victim was walking with a relative along Victoria Road when she saw a man jogging towards her.
They both moved to let him pass and as the jogger got to them, he put a hand on the woman’s shoulder and said ‘sorry’ before trying to snatch the gold necklace.
The necklace snapped and the woman managed to grab one end of it and pull it away from the suspect, who fled in the direction of Cottingley.
The attempted robbery left the woman with scratches to her neck.
A man West Yorkshire Police want to speak to in connection with the incident was described as being of mixed race, aged between 25-30, 5ft 6ins tall with a slim to medium build.
He had a long face and stubble, and was wearing a grey coloured hooded top with the hood pulled up, plain black jogging bottoms and trainers.
Any witnesses are asked to contact City and Holbeck CID on 101.
