Man threatened with aggressive dog in Morley
A SALESMAN was threatened with attack by an aggressive dog by two thieves.
The man, who buys and sells tools, was on Station Road at around 2.15pm on Thursday, September 13 and spoke to two men interested in buying his stock.
They said they were interested and would return with the money. But when they went back to the man, they had a white Staffordshire bull terrier type dog with them with which they threatened the salesman with until he let them take a petrol generator from the back of his van.
They both walked off down an alleyway towards Chapel Hill.
The first man is described as being Asian, around 5ft 6ins tall, of stocky build and in his mid 30s. He had short black hair and wore blue overalls.
The second man was Asian, around 5ft 11in, slim and in his mid 20s and was wearing a turban.
Insp Paul Sullivan, who leads Morley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The dog was being quite aggressive, attempting to bite the man’s leg while he was being threatened.
“We cannot let people walk through the streets with an aggressive dog, threatening people. It is an unpleasant aspect of this crime. Not only were they stealing from this man, they also threatened him with the dog, which is a crime in itself, and put the man in fear.
“The petrol generator is an unusual item and something that isn’t sold on an estate on a daily basis, but someone must have been approached by these two characters.
The incident was captured on CCTV and detectives are investigating.
Anyone who has any information about this incident is urged to call police via the non-emergency number 101, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
