Men jailed over brutal attack in Morley

Robbers who brutally attacked a man on his way to work in Morley have been jailed.

Thomas Proctor and Michael Varley attacked Paul Addinall on August 27 last year, punching and kicking him, leaving him covered in his own blood.

The pair stole Mr Addinall’s phone, some cash and a Blockbuster card before leaving the scene.

But they were caught later the same day.

Judge Guy Kearl QC said that they boasted about what they had done, talking about the quantity of blood they had left on their victim.

Condeming the attackers, he said: “This was a purely gratuitous attack.”

The court was told that the psychological impact on Mr Addinall had been considerable.

Proctor, 21, of Flaxton Close, Beeston was jailed for three years nine months.

Varley, 23, of West Grange Green, Belle Isle, was sentenced to three years.

Judge Kearl said it was an aggrevating feature in Proctor’s case that he had only been released from his last sentence on licence about two weeks before the attack.
