Morley MP Ed Balls in Asda cooking challenge
Morley and Outwood MP Ed Balls will be swapping the House of Commons for Asda House tomorrow as he takes on the Come Dine With MP challenge in Leeds.
Based on the popular TV show, Come Dine With MP challenges politicians to cook a healthy and tasty meal on a tight family budget.
The Shadow Chancellor will be serving his dish to five guests, including a local Morley “Asda Mum”; Maxine Green, Community Life Champion at Asda Morley and David Warrington of Morley charity Forget-Me-Not-Trust.
Mr Balls had a budget of £52 to buy his ingredients at Asda Morley, and will cook a starter of smoked haddock soufflé and salad and a main course of chicken and coriander laksa, with rhubarb crumble and custard for dessert.
The food will be served at 5pm and diners will mark his meal out of ten, which will decide his place on the Come Dine With MP leaderboard.
Allan Edwards, Asda’s Director of Public Affairs, said; “Come Dine with MP is a light-hearted way to demonstrate to MPs the challenges faced by families when preparing affordable, healthy and tasty meals.
“We work tirelessly to deliver quality food at affordable prices so our 18 million customers win ten-out-of-ten with their family menu, week in, week out.”
