MP Ed Balls called in to meet Asquith Primary School pupil Luke Heppenstall and his mum Ruth who have been raising money for the Transplant Games.
Luke, who had a transplant when he was much younger, will take part in the games later this summer. Mr Balls said: “The Transplant Games, where children and young people who’ve had a transplant take part in competitive sports, are a fantastic event. “Since his own transplant, Luke has also taken part, and raises money for, the Transplant Games. “It’s great to see Luke doing so well and fabulous that all his classmates and school friends get behind him to raise money each year.” Classes at Asquith Primary took part in a non-uniform day which raised over £100 for the games.
