Morley Rugby Club is holding the latest beer festival to hit the town this summer.
The club, on Scatcherd Lane, has teamed up with sponsors Partners Brewery to host a pre-season bank holiday weekend of fun, rugby and of course beer.
Coach Peter Seabourne who is organising the annual Morley Beer, Cider and Rugby Festival, said: “People can expect funfair rides, food, live music and pre-season rugby, as well as a world record attempt.”
The beer festival kicks off at 5pm til 11pm on Friday August 23 with Morley Rugby Club’s 2nd and 3rd team’s pre-season matches. Then if a night of sampling a selection of 20 real ales, rugby and 15 fruit ciders is not enough, the festival re-opens at midday on Saturday, August 24 until 11pm, when the 1st team take on Wheatley Hills in their pre-season friendly. The beer will keep flowing until Sunday from noon-4pm with a rugby-related world record attempt. There will also be stalls and a few special guests throughout the event.
This event follows on from Morley’s first ever beer festival at neighbouring Morley Cricket Club earlier this year, Drighlington Beer Festival at the Spotted Cow Pub and Tingley Beer Festival at The Village Hotel. All the festivals have been in conjunction with Partners Brewery, a Dewsbury-based company who produce a host of real ales such as Ghost, Mungo and a shortlisted Yorkshire Beer of the Year Tabatha. Their beers are also getting noticed down south as the House of Parliament’s bar serves Partners Spike’s beer.
