A school girl from Morley has landed “her biggest role yet” in which she will be performing alongside a West End legend.
Seven-year-old Mia Speight is already in the Christmas spirit after successfully auditioning to play the part of Kitty in Scrooge, alongside Tommy Steele.
The musical production, a version of Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol by Leslie Bricusse, will be on at Leeds Grand Theatre, where Mia will take to the stage.
Mia’s grandparents, Ted and Diane Taylor, are bursting with pride after watching their granddaughter’s progression on stage, since the age of two.
Mr Taylor said: “We can’t wait to see her. We will be going to at least three shows!”
Fountain Primary School pupil Mia attends Scala Performing Arts in Horsforth as well as the Lara Academy of Dance, also in Leeds.
The busy rising starlet, who lives on Roseate Green, has previously played the role of Gretl in The Sound of Music, also at Leeds Grand, and aged six she starred in hit soap Emmerdale.
Scrooge is a heartwarming story about the transformation of miserable businessman Ebeneezer (Tommy Steele), who is visited by ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to come.
Dickens’ classic, set in Victorian Era Britain, is perfectly suited to the Grand’s Victorian Theatre, said general manager at Leeds Grand Theatre, Ian Sime.
He said: “Scrooge The Musical is the perfect family treat.”
Scrooge The Musical will be performed at Leeds Grand Theatre from Tuesday, November 19, until December 7.
Tickets are on sale now priced from £16 to £31.50. Visit www.leedsgrandtheatre.com or contact the box office on 0844 848 2700.
