Young people have been learning how to cook Chinese cuisine from a Chinese professor.

At last week’s YZUP! Youth Club members took part in preparing and cooking Chinese food by Professor Liu Yunbo who shared his culinary skills.

Under his expert instruction they prepared and cooked fried rice and a variety of oriental ingredients which were devoured with great relish by youth club members.

Professor Liu Yunbo is currently staying in Morley after the recent wedding of his daughter. He hails from Harbin in Manchuria in Northern China where he undertakes research and lectures in railway engineering in a university college. He readily responded to the invitation to help with the cooking craft session as he was anxious to meet local young people from the town.

Professor Liu Yunbo said he was so pleased to have the opportunity to meet and share with the young people of the club. He hoped that they would develop their international understanding and oriental tastes and that any of the young people were welcome to visit him and his wife if they every visited China in the future. YZUP! Youth Club meets in the Baker Rooms in Commercial Street every Thursday evening. It is a community project organised by Morley Community Church and run by volunteers from church and neighbourhood.
