Music society celebrate their 70th season
Morley Music Society
MORLEY Music Society is undertaking an ambitious programme of concerts to celebrate their 70th season with rehearsals beginning early next month.
Mendelssohn’s St Paul will be their first concert, which will be performed on Saturday, November 10 at Central Methodist Church where their long time organist, Geoffrey Dunn, will accompany them.
On Saturday, December 15, a full orchestral rendition of Handel’s Messiah will take place at Morley Town Hall with celebrated soloists who have previously sung with the society.
Finally, on Saturday, March 23 next year, the Bach St John Passion, again with full orchestra, will be performed at Morley Academy when it is hoped to involve some of the school’s music students in the performance.
The society is also offering local singers the opportunity of joining them in this anniversary year, which promises to be both exciting and challenging.
There will be an open rehearsal on Monday, September 17 at 7.30pm at Morley Central Methodist Church when new members will be made very welcome. If you are interested or if you would like more information, call Liz Foxwell on 0113 253174 or visit their website at www.morleymusicsociety.org.uk
