AN UNWANTED pet had a lucky escape after being thrown out of the window of a moving van on Drighlington bypass at the weekend.
Now this little white mouse needs a new home in time for Christmas.
The mouse is currently in the safe hands of former pet shop owner Christine Day who was given it by a couple who had seen it flung out of a van on the A650.
They told her that they had turned their own van around, went back to investigate and found the mouse in a tiny home made cage.
After trying to find a home for it at the pet shop next door to Christine on Whitehall Road, they ended up passing the mouse to her.
Christine said it was very lucky for the mouse that it had been spotted and that someone had cared enough to go back to check it out.
“It must have a guardian angel, it would never have survived the winter outside,” she added.
She is now hoping someone might give her a ring on 0113 287 9482 and offer her guest a permanent home.
