Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams to meet fans at the White Rose Centre

OLYMPIC gold medallist and Leeds’s own sporting heroine Nicola Adams will be meeting fans in the White Rose Centre on Friday as part of her mission to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and to inspire youngsters to follow their sporting dreams.

The flyweight gold medallist will be meeting children from The Hunslet Club to tell them what motivated her to take up boxing and what it felt like to be the first British woman ever to win a boxing gold medal at this summer’s Olympic Games in London.

As part of the session Nicola will be teaching the children how to keep themselves fit and offer top tips on a healthy lifestyle. She will then be showing off her gold medal to the youngsters to further demonstrate what aiming high and focusing on a sporting goal can bring.

Dean Stratton, centre manager of White Rose, said: “Friday is going to be a really exciting day and the team can’t wait to welcome Nicola into White Rose.

“We are really privileged that Nicola is taking time out of her busy schedule to come in and talk to children from The Hunslet Club. She is such an inspiration, I know the children are looking forward to spending time with her and hopefully she will put them on the right path to follow in her success.”

The session will begin at 10am in The Central Atrium and members of the public are being invited to go along and listen to Nicola’s talk.
