Petrol station plans provoke objections
Service Station, Bruntcliffe Road, Morley
Objections are being made by concerned residents living close to the site of a planned drive-through restaurant in Morley.
Planning chiefs are considering a proposal to demolish Victoria Service Station on Bruntcliffe Road and replace it with a petrol filling station, convenience store and a 24-hour drive-through restaurant.
Although objectors aren’t too concerned about the replacement petrol station, it’s the restaurant thathas caused concern.
Mrs Christine Guy, who lives on Bruntcliffe Road, said: “This is the wrong location for this type of development. It will be far too close to residential housing.
“The noise from this will intrude on people’s sleep and lives and could cause anti-social behaviour in the area.
“The A650 is already classed as being overloaded by the highways department and this will generate extra traffic and noise for those of us who live on this already extremely busy road.”
Morley Town Council has also lodged its objection to the restaurant.
It said: “This would be detrimental to residential amenity because of noise likely to be made by vehicles and customers, especially for 24-hour, seven day a week opening.”
