A spate of mobile phone thefts has prompted a clear warning from Morley police - keep them close.
Insp Paul Sullivan, who leads Morley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “These devices are more valuable than personal computers with the cost ranging from £100 to £700.
“Reports of thefts of phones from shop counters, sports centres, schools and shopping bags has risen and they are difficult to trace.
“They are extremely favoured items for the petty criminal. “
He said there were simple steps people could take to reduce the chance of having their phone stolen.
“Keep your phone close to you at all times. Make it difficult for the thieves,” he said.
“Mobile phone theft is on the increase. People need to be vigilant.”
