Run like Usain Bolt on Morley’s Olympic inspired track
ANYONE inspired to emulate Jessica Ennis, Usain Bolt or Christine Ohuruogu need look no further than Morley’s Scatcherd Park.
In order to celebrate the Olympics, a running track has been marked in to offer people of all ages the chance to be active and recreate the track heroics of the stars of London 2012.
The temporary tracks have been created by Leeds City Council’s parks and countryside service to encourage people into their local parks over the summer and also to show how parks can provide the perfect setting for a range of activities including exercise and improving fitness.
Leeds City Council executive member for the environment Coun Mark Dobson said: “They say the best ideas are the most simple and these running tracks offer a great way for people to be inspired by the stars of London 2012 and recreate their efforts in their local park in Leeds.
“Parks offer a fantastic venue for people to get fit in great surroundings, so we look forward to seeing people of all ages making use of the tracks in the coming weeks and who knows this may even set an athletics star of the future on the path to Olympic glory.”
