Scarecrows at the ready for Gildersome festival

Councillors Pat May and Kathy Cook are confident of some great entries in this year's Gildersome Scarecrow Festival.

Councillors Pat May and Kathy Cook are confident of some great entries in this year's Gildersome Scarecrow Festival.

Organisers of Gildersome’s annual scarecrow festival are hoping the sun will be shining for the event later this month.

June 22 is the date to be put in your diaries for the event, which will see maypole dancing, a puppeteer, Gawthorpe Brass Band and a miniature steam railway offering rides on the Green.
A map of where to find the many scarecrows around the village will be available.
Hundreds of people flock to what has become Gildersome’s busiest day and it is hoped people will show their support once again this year.
