Hundreds of people flocked to Gildersome on Sunday for the village’s annual scarecrow festival.

From children’s favourite Cat in the Hat to a very tall farmer, there were lots of scarecrows visiting the village for the event.

Picking up a programme from just outside the meeting hall on Town Street, visitors were able to follow the suggested route around the village to see the life-like scarecrows that were displayed in front gardens, churchyards and in public spaces.

There was also a puppet show with lots of laughs, Maypole and majorettes dancing, a miniature steam railway offering rides and a brass band filling the summer air with music.
