St Gemma’s Hospice has received £5,000 towards their 365 Days of Care Appeal thanks a nomination from the Morley branch of Santander bank.
The donation was provided by the Santander Foundation, which offers grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities.
The grant will help St Gemma’s Hospice to extend their Community Nursing Service from five days a week to seven days a week so that patients can be offered vital support at weekends.
The Hospice recently launched a fundraising appeal to raise £283,000 which would guarantee the extended seven day a week service for the next five years.
Tracie Harrison, fundraiser at the hospice said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received a £5,000 grant from the Santander Community Fund which is a massive boost to our seven day a week service. It will help us to provide the highest level of palliative care to our community patients, seven days a week.
“Thank you to staff at the Morley branch of Santander for kindly nominating St Gemma’s to receive this wonderful donation.”
Jackie Duffy at Santander’s Morley branch said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community it serves and we are delighted to be supporting St. Gemma’s Hospice, and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
