MORLEY Amateur Operatic Society has announced two of the stars of their pantomime in 2013.

Gemma Buckley, 29, and Jeni Riordan, 22, will be playing Maid Marion and Robin Hood in Babes in the Wood at Morley Town Hall in February.

Both girls will be familiar to Morley audiences as Jeni played her first major part in Anything Goes in 2008 and has twice played the principal boy.

MAOS is very much a family affair and her mother, Tina, is wardrobe mistress and was responsible for all the costumes in the September production of The Wizard of Oz.

Gemma joined MAOS in 2010 after spotting members unloading a massive spaceship set for their production of Return to the Forbidden Planet.

She asked to get involved and that year helped out back stage before deciding to try out acting, appearing as a dancer in Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Her first principal role was as Alice in Dick Whittington earlier this year.

She said she is really excited to be playing Maid Marion and loves being part of MAOS.

“They’re a great bunch of people putting on popular and enjoyable shows and pantomimes each year,”she said, adding, “I do it because I love the singing and dancing, but it’s also a brilliant social pastime.”

Following the Christmas break rehearsals will restart on January 3.

Babes in the Wood will be at Morley Town Hall from February 7-10, with 7.15pm performances on Thursday and Friday and 2.15pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday.

As there is no Saturday evening performance, fewer seats will be available and people are urged to order theirs as soon as possible.

Tickets cost £8 for adults, £6 for concessions (children, over 60s and block bookings of 20 or more) and a family ticket for two adults and two under 16s is £25.

Tickets can be ordered by ringing Andrea or Steven on 07960 766334.

Booking forms giving full details can be picked up from Altham’s Travel in Queen Street Morley. You can also find details on the MAOS website www.mor
