The Cribs have announced a massive homecoming show in Leeds’ Millennium Square.

Styled as a mini-festival, the event on July 22 will also see former Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore perform, as well as Leeds bands Pulled Apart By Horses and Menace Beach.

A statement on the Wakefield band’s Facebook page read: “Over the last couple of years, whenever someone asked us when we would be playing in Leeds again, we always said that we were saving something special for our hometown show.

“The idea that we kept coming back to, was to curate and stage our own mini-festival, with bands and artists that we love, and put it in the centre of Leeds in the open air.

“The 4-band line-up is something that we are really excited about.”

The band have dubbed the performance “the Cribs show to end all Cribs shows.” It’s been three years in the making, and finally everything has come together.”

“A summer’s night out under the stars in our favourite town, with our favourite artists, and hopefully all of our favourite people (you guys, of course).

“Come and feel the love.”Formed in Wakefield the band have released six studio albums, the last of which For All My Sisters, was released last year to critical acclaim.

It will be the first time the band has performed its own show in Leeds since the album’s tiny launch party at the Brudenell Social Club in March last year. They also played last year’s Leeds Festival.

Tickets are expected to go on sale on Wednesday.
