Firefighters and paramedics have rescued a woman who was trapped after a car crash.

The driver became trapped after a shunt on the Beeston Ring Road, opposite The Drysalters Pub, on Friday at 7.10pm.

Watch commander Wayne Ruston, of Hunslet Fire Station’s green watch, said they first had to stabilise the vehicle before removing the roof and all the doors.

The casualty was taken out on an extraction board as paramedics feared she may have spinal injuries.

He added: “We worked really well with the paramedics. Police had to shut the road off for about 45 minutes. We got the lady out and she was transported to Leeds General Infirmary.”
