Tributes paid to much loved Morley dinner lady
Pamela Bointon
MOVING tributes have been paid to a much-loved lunchtime assistant at Newlands Primary School who has died following a brave battle against cancer.
Pamela Bointon, 39 and a mother of three, passed away in Wheatfields Hospice on December 30.
Family friend and school governor Wyn Kidger described her as,”an exceptional lady,” and a,“wonderful and devoted mother to Jayde, 17, Ryan, 14, and Emma, nine, besides being a loving and caring wife to Neil.”
Neil Seddon and Pamela, who had been together for many years, were married at Leeds Town Hall in July after her cancer was diagnosed.
Their reception at the Brickworks and evening reception at Ackroyd Street WMC were made possible thanks to the generosity and hard work of her colleagues at Newlands Primary School who organised fundraising events, including a tag rugby match, to help pay for it.
Headteacher Adrian Stygall said he would particularly like to pay tribute to their team of dinner ladies for their “real warmth, humanity and kindness” towards Pamela and her family during her illness.
He added: “She was a lovely lady and part of a lovely team.
“In our recent Ofsted the children and the sensitivity and fun nature of the team that supports them were particularly praised and she played a full part in that team.
“It’s a real tragedy that she had gone so early but she did bring out the best in people, the very best, and we’ll do our best for her little girl, Emma who is one of our pupils.”
Mrs Kidger added: “Pamela’s oldest daughter has been a star, taking and collecting her younger sister from school.
“Ryan too, has helped, and Neil has been Pamela’s rock. His love for Pamela has been wonderful.
“How cruel is life to take such a lovely devoted lady from her family and friends.”
The funeral will be held at Cottingley Crematorium at 2.20pm on Tuesday, January 15. Family flowers only.
