A POPULAR lollipop lady has been nominated for an excellence award from Leeds City Council.

Carole Kinghorn, who works as a crossing patrol warden and lunchtime supervisory assistant at Westerton Primary School, was recently invited to a celebration at the John Charles Centre for Sport.

Headteacher Jim Reid said: “She is a very reliable member of staff and is always cheerful, whatever the weather.

“All the children love her and she performs her crossing duties in a very professional and conscientious way, ensuring that our youngsters are safe when crossing a very busy road.

“We are lucky to have Carole looking after us and we are proud of her!”
