White Rose Centre celebrates Morley

MORLEY traders and community groups rallied round at the weekend to promote the town to shoppers at the White Rose Centre.
Morley weekend is a twice yearly opportunity for those in the town to encourage visitors to look beyond the shopping centre to what the town has to offer.
Event organiser Rachael Kennedy said: “It was really successful and I was pleased with the number of retailers who took part.
“There was a really nice mixture and they all said they want to come back.
“They also said that as well as doing really good trade, they were encouraged by the numbers of people who said they would visit their shops in the future.”
As well as stalls representing Morley’s specialist shops, community groups and clubs took part, including Morley in Bloom and the Morley Community Archive.
Rachael added: “We has some fantastic entertainment from Morley Community Orchestra, Tingley Brass Band, the Martial Arts Centre and Phoenix dance were amazing and got a real crowd.”
She said she was grateful to the White Rose for their help and added: “We are looking at different ways to get a permanent presence in the centre rather than it being just twice a year, something to highlight the fact we are just down the road and that people should visit.”
