The White Rose Shopping Centre has rounded off its charity partnership with St Gemma’s Hospice in style with a Mother’s Day pop-up shop, bringing the amount raised for the charity to more than £108,800.

The centre worked in partnership with St Gemma’s and Luscombe Suzuki to promote the hospice’s Big Car Raffle, which took place from December 2013 to January 2014 and raised more than £60,000 for the charity.

During the six weeks in which it was held the St Gemma’s Big Car Raffle gave entrants the chance to win a host of prizes with the grand prize winner, Maureen Dunne, driving away in a new Suzuki Swift, which was kindly donated by the team at Luscombe Suzuki.

Speaking about the charity partnership centre manager at White Rose, Dean Stratton, said: “We’re delighted that we’ve managed to raise more than £108,000 for St Gemma’s Hospice and would like to say a big thank you to all our shoppers that got behind our fundraising activities over the last two years, as we couldn’t have raised such a substantial amount without them.

“St Gemma’s conducts vital work in our local community by offering care and support to terminally ill patients and their families. The money raised will go a long way in helping the team at the hospice continue to offer this valuable service to families across the region.

“The fundraising activity we’ve supported in aid of St Gemma’s over the past two years demonstrates our commitment to supporting worthy causes in our community and I hope our shoppers will continue to support our charitable initiatives in the future.”

Tracie Harrison, fundraiser at St Gemma’s Hospice, said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with White Rose over the past two years and are very grateful for the many fundraising opportunities they have allowed St. Gemma’s staff and volunteers to conduct. White Rose shoppers have been extremely supportive of St Gemma’s, meaning that we have raised awareness of our work, as well as a fantastic amount that will fund vital care for our patients.”
