White Rose Sainsbury’s steps up for Fairtrade Fortnight

There will be lots of activities taking place at Sainsbury’s at the White Rose Shopping Centre this Saturday as the store supports Fairtrade Fortnight.

The store will be holding a Fairtrade day with staff holding activities throughout the day to encourage more people to support Fairtrade and the difference they can make to communities in the developing world.

The day’s activities will take place from 11am-3pm and will include a Fairtrade treasure hunt for all ages, children’s activity sessions, a colouring competition and Fairtrade quiz.

As a result of Fairtrade Day, staff are encouraging customers to support the Fairtrade Foundation Go Further campaign, which is running throughout Fairtrade Fortnight (February 25 to March 10), where customers can Go Further by trying a new Fairtrade product, or launching a campaign to get friends, family and work colleagues to start buying more Fairtrade products.

Morley customers can also sign a petition to call on more support to the world’s smallholder farmers.

Jodie Tate, manager of Sainsbury’s at the White Rose, said: “We are always looking for ways in which we can further raise awareness to our community about the benefits of supporting Fairtrade.

“Hopefully, our Fairtrade day will encourage more customers to try it and help support farmers and workers in developing countries.”
