More than 150 people helped Morley’s Mayor celebrate her year representing the town.

Coun Wyn Kidger hosted her Mayor’s Ball last Saturday.

“ We had 150 guests – all friends – who attended,” she said. “We had a lovely meal catered by Jack Damme. A charity auction was held by Phil Bennett and Jamie Jones Buchanon, of Leeds Rhinos, during which £1,800 was raised for the Terry Yorath home for respite for disabled young adults.

“During the meal we were entertained by a magician and the great Phil Fryer and his Vegas girls entertained us with his Frank Sinatra tribute. The evening was superb and will definitely be a night I will never forget. Thank you to all who helped this night be the success it was.”

During her year, Coun Kidger has been fundraising for many groups in and around the town, handing out generous cash amounts to groups ranging from dance and Scouts to community.

Among the most recent to benefit is Morley Newlands Academy, which received money for books.
