One of the most famous names in brass banding, the Yorkshire Imperial Band, is joining forces with the Military Wives Choir to present a Christmas concert in Morley Town Hall.

All profits from the December 5 concert will be donated to the charity Help for Heroes to support their inspiring work with those who have made sacrifices in the service of their country.

The Military Wives Choir (York), which is composed entirely of wives of serving military personnel, is part of a Military Wives Choir network, which now spans the world.

Although not a professional choir the members aspire to the highest musical standards whilst learning new skills, helping each other through the bad times and celebrating the good times.

The programme, which is designed to appeal to all musical tastes, will include the choir singing the chart topping hit Wherever You Are and performances from some of the band’s outstanding soloists in addition to festive items which should prove the perfect start to the Christmas season.

Choir Secretary Allison West said: “We have become a crucial part of the military network for many women, and we hope to be able to continue for many, many years to come”.

Tickets are priced at £10 and £8 for concessions and can be purchased from the box office on 01924 305830 or online at either www.wakefield.gov.uk/residents/events-and-culture/events/events-in-public-halls or www.yorkshireimps.co.uk.
