The Morley Academy readers’ group and student librarians attended the Leeds Book Awards Ceremony in Pudsey recently.

The group got to meet up with the authors of the shortlisted titles and also found out the winners of the 11-14 and 14-16 age categories.

Miss Brannan, librarian at The Morley Academy, said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to meet both established and upcoming authors and get some first-hand advice about writing which they can apply to their own work. “The students enjoyed the event. And, to top it off the winner of the 11-14 category was Jessica’s Ghost, written by Andrew Norriss, which was voted as joint favourite by our readers’ group.”
