Morley Literature Festival is on the look-out for a new director.

Jenny Harris, who has been at the helm for four years, has taken up a new role as director of the Halifax Festival.

During her time in charge she attracted big literary names such as Ian Rankin, Iain Banks and Barbara Taylor-Bradford to the town.

This year’s Morley Literature Festival is due to take place fromOctober 4-12.

A new director will be unveiled in the next few weeks.

Festival chair Coun Shirley Varley said: “Jenny Harris has been a wonderful director of Morley Literature Festival.

“Throughout the years of her leadership she has developed many ideas which have given much enjoyment to many people .

“These years have seen the festival grow in status and appreciated by much wider audiences.”

“Jenny has worked extremely hard and has always been a pleasure to work with and I speak for all those who have been associated with the management, committee, Friends and volunteers, that everyone was made to feel an essential part of the team. 
“As she departs we know that her endeavours have put the festival in a good place. True to her work ethic she is supporting the committee during the changeover. We wish her every success in any new ventures she undertakes and we know she will do a fine job.

“Thanks Jenny and well done!”
