The speed limit on two busy roads in Morley is to be reduced after a review by Leeds City Council.

On Wide Lane (B6123) from Dewsbury Road to Topcliffe Lane, the limit will be cut from 60 miles per hour to 40mph.

On Scotchman Lane the current 40mph limit will be reduced to 30mph from the junction at Britannia Road as far as the Kirklees boundary.

Coun Neil Dawson, who lobbied for the changes, said: “I welcome both of these speed reduction meaures and will reduce the chances of a serious accident and injury to local people.”
