Queen Street is to be transported 100 years back in time to 1914 as part of a First World War Remembrance Weekend.

The event, which runs from August 2-4, will see a street festival complete with theatre, model railways and parades taking place on Queen Street.

The West Yorkshire Archive Service will also be running two workshops for families to trace their history and find out how they may be connected to people who fought or lived through World War One.

These take place at Cucina Café on August 2 from 11am-noon and 1pm-2pm.

Coun Bill Urry, of the Archives, Archaelogy and Trading Standards Committee said: “As well as being a great opportunity for people to find out more about their family’s involvement in World War One, it is also a chance for us all to reflect on the contribution and sacrifices made by the people of Morley 100 years ago.”
